I've known Allan through GQA for about 14 years and will miss him dearly as both friend and colleague. He was the driving force behind GQA, developing it from a tiny specialist awarding body to a much larger, highly successful and well respected organisation. His vast experience and knowledge of industrial qualifications design and development set him apart from others. He was the person other professionals and industry bodies went to when they needed help or advice. His attention to detail was legendary and made my job of chairman much easier. I never had to worry about regulatory issues and qualifications were always developed and approved ahead of industry deadlines. He was an excellent manager, developing a strong and loyal team that always received top customer satisfaction ratings. GQA is still going from strength to strength; I believe that this continued success of what he called 'his baby ' is his legacy to us.
